Studio
The studio is an ramshackle metal building attached to the side of an old brick building that is part of a cotton gin and warehouse site. The space looks to have been part of a seed separation operation. At one time there was an overhead trolley crane which lies in pieces behind the building.  There is no running water and no integral heating or cooling. As you can imagine, I'm more eager to work at the gas forge early on a winter morning than a summer afternoon. The studio has been located here for several years now and I've grown very fond of the space.

It's very high ceilings make moving lengthy materials around much easier and provides a great drafting opportunity in the summer heat. The high windows swing out and allow the rising heat to dissipate and keep the summer afternoons reasonably comfortable. Since the building is south facing, in the winter the metal of the building heats quickly in the morning sun and takes the cold out of the space by 9:30 or 10:00 am. Only on overcast days doest it remain cold all day. This is the deep south, remember.

I take photos of the space the tools and the materials so I've collected them here to share if they interest you.
