In late August - early September
John and I continued to work on clearing the road and getting water to the site.
We must also cut a clear right-of-way for the power lines. We'd rather
have them underground but that would require a lot of blasting since they must
be three feet below ground. That just won't fit in our budget so we'll live with
overhead lines for the time being.
Here are pictures of the slab
pouring in anticipation of the arrival of the metal building (in pieces)
scheduled for Monday the 15th of October. When we want a change of pace,
we go to the highest spot on the property overlooking the valley below and clean
up the scrub in anticipation of the fall cookouts we'll have. There are some
pictures from that area as well. Then there are also some of a section of the
right-of-way we are working on. We like to think of it as a new foot path...
Firewood stacked at the top for cool evening campfires. The beginning of holding beds for transfering garden plants. The trickle of water from our 2" pipe. We need pumps. Looking up the cleaned up drive where the hillside steepens. The first of 4 concrete truck arrives. Wet concrete held by forms and keyway over gravel and plastic sheeting. John catches up on breakfast. Day after slab pour we admire the finish Dwight put on the surface. The uppersection of the power right of way. See the red dot in the distance? Thats the other end. One Wall Up - three to go Poitrait of the Boss and His Work
Thinking of solar operated pump stations. Red Iron frame up with insulation and metal siding up on the North wall. The Sthil Farm Boss chainsaw in front of the power line right of way we have had to cut in order to get power to the construction site.
